Evaluation Q7

Above you can see my preliminary task i created a while back, since then i feel i have progressed in a massive amount of ways when it comes to creating my magazine, as you can see in my final products below As you can see, i have come a long way when it comes to looking at my preliminary task compared to my final products, i believe i have improve upon number of aspects i will list below. I Feel i have significantly improved when it comes to technology, i feel i understand alot more tools in photoshop and can manipulate pictures in an efective manner and make them look professional and fitting for the product they are to be used on. In InDesign, i feel i have learned to effectively lay out an article which is seen in my Double page spread, i feel this is laid out in a very professional manner which is seen as i have followed a 3 column guide. Not only do i feel i have improve technologically, i feel i have improved my writing skills, at the beginning of the year, my first draft for my Double page spread article held alot of gramattic errors but also didn't make sense and conflicted at many points, i sook advice from english teachers in the school and significantly improved my article and wrote what i feel in my opinion, is a very professional and engaging story.

In this video, i explain multiple ways in which my music magazine can be distributed, these methods include IPCMedia IPC Media is a free online magazine publisher which can benefit my magazine in order to gather more of a wide audience WHSmitbh WHSmith is one of the biggest stores int he UK to offer magazines, not only does it offer magazines, it offers things like novels, WHSmith could help my magazine as it can offer the magazine to a massive audience. ISSUU ISSUU is a free online magazine publisher, publishing my magazine on ISSUU can significantly help my magazine as i will be able to find out if people actually enjoy reading my magazine and receive feedback. Apple Apple can significantly help my magazine as it can be published on iTunes in which people can read for free, if this is sucessful i can implement a small fee to see if people would actually buy the magazine. PCGamer forum method A PC Gamer similar forum method can significantly help my magazines distribution, but also development, if i was to set up a forum for the magazine, i would be able to receive stories from readers and publish them in the magazine.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? Throughout producing my final products i've used 2 different types of software which i found very difficult to master, these 2 softwares being Adobe Photoshop and Adobe inDesign. Before hand i had used Photoshop at home which gave me a better insight when it came to making editing my photos and making my products in general, Whereas i had never used InDesign before so it took a massive learning curve in order to understand it. With photoshop, i learned that photoshop offers alot of different tools i hadn't used in past, one being the quick select and feather option which allows for cutting backgrounds out to be easier and look better around the egdes. Another thinkg i learned abotu Adobe is there are alot of different options when it comes to editing photos to make them look more professional. In past i'd hardly used any of the options which i have screenshotted below. These options came in very handy as it made adding colour corrections to make my background blend with the colour scheme alot easier, but also basic effects like making the background black and white were very useful as you can see in my contents page. Also with photoshop, i had to watch alot of tutorials on Youtube which came in handy when it came to doing more advanced photo manipulation When it came to inDesign, i had never used this software before, at first when i saw the software i was very nervous and didn't understand any of the buttons depsite the add text. It took me alot of practice when it came to using indesign to learn things like objected text warping like on my Double page spread with the text around the hand. Also with indesign, i learned that the 3 column system is very handy when it comes to writing stories as it can make the simplest text look professional, inDesign made it very easy to make a 3 column system as it offers guides in which you can place a text back and if the story is too long, carry it on in another text box. Some drawbacks of both these software i found were the fact they freeze and crash alot, I had to use inDesign on a number of computers due to frequent crashes and problems where it just wouldn't open in general, this delayed the speed of which i could finish my products as i was constantly having to solve software problems. Some online software i used includes Prezi, Prezi is a free interactive software in which people can create a presentation and add things like pictures and animations from slide to slide, this was very useful when it came to explaining things in my previous evaluation questions as i could easily swap from slide to picture to slide in a professional looking manner. Another online software i used was padlet, padlet allowed for me to receive feedback from members of my class and even online if i had shared it, The padlet responses i recieved were crucial when it came to finishing my media products as i received alot of suggestions which i used when it came from making corrections from my draft to final product.

Genre Choice

The genre i have selected for my magazine is Dubstep, Dubstep is a genre of dance music which originated in south london in the 1990's,, Dubstep has grown to a very mainstream style of music in the past 3 years. I myself started listening to dubstep 6 years ago starting with artists ike Mt Eden and also Deadmau5. Dubstep does however tie in with alot of other dance music genres like house which gives me more diversity when it comes to talking about different artists and stories throughout my magazine.

Organisation of Locations

The locations i used in my photos which i took all featured music equipment in order to present a more studio based production attitude, this is why i used a studio located in liverpool city centre, dawsons the shop in Liverpool city center. I also took a picture not in Liverpool city center but round the town i live in Maghull to try and get a bit of variety in my pictures. The reasoning behind me taking pictures inside of a studio inside Liverpool consist of the fact it holds electric equipment related to music which allows me to give a more of a production based feel to my magazine. The reasoning behind me taking pictures inside of Dawson's in Liverpool is due to the fact that there is alot of musical equipment throughout the shop which allows me to take pictures with expensive DJ equipment and show more professional equipment. The reasoning behind me taking a picture outside of Liverpool in my town was to try and get a variety, but also an open shot otuside of buildings and civilization to get a nice relaxes attitude to the picture.

Organisation of actors

On my front cover, the main actor used is wearing a horse mark, this may seem stupid to most beholders but there is reasoning behind this which i will state below. As you can see above, there is a DJ Wearing a big mask resembling a mouse, this DJ is known as 'Deadmau5' (Dead mouse) and is one of the biggest names in the style of music i am working towards. I have decided to base my artist around deadmau5 as he's a very looked upto artist but also the fact i have animal masks and could make an artist around the masks which cna be related to deadmau5, which is why i created the artist L1v3h0r5. the reason there are numbers throughout my artist's name is due to the 5 in deadmau5, also, i tried to make it sort of opposite to deadmau5 which is why rather than dead, there is live, and also a different animal.

Padlet Responses

Here you can see i put a post on padlet asking several of my friends to review my Double page spread, i asked them to offer me feedback regarding potential changes or just things they dislike about it, Here you can see the responses i have received. From the responses offered, i know that now i will have to change the following - Move text around the image to avoid it being covered - Add crossheads throughout the interview. - Add a pagefolio to the Double page spread - Make the interview title stand out more.
